Which specific crops does BioDiagnostics test?
We conduct testing on all crops. However, be aware that every test cannot be applied to every crop. We will guide you through the process and make sure that only the right tests are preformed on the right crop.
Is Electrophoresis Genetic Purity Analysis more accurate than field grow-outs?
Grow-out testing requires more time (an entire growth cycle) to achieve results and the results are subjective and dependent on environmental conditions that may not be consistent with the conditions where the seed product will be planted. Isozyme testing can give you results in two weeks and the results are not subjective since they are based on well defined patterns of protein-based markers.
Is there a test that will indicate whether my seed has been damaged by a late frost?
A Tetrazolium (TZ) Test estimates standard germination percentages. This viability test is completed within a few hours. A TZ (tetrazolium chloride) test is a viability test that allows us to detect frost damage in the embryo. This test can provide a rapid evaluation of the effects of frost on seed quality.
Which traits are tested by BioDiagnostics?
BioDiagnostics performs purity tests for most commercial traits. See a full list of our trait testing or contact us if you are unable to locate the trait needed.
What is the typical sample turn-around time for data?
Most tests are completed within two weeks of sample receipt. Turn-around times do vary by test and sample size. Contact one of our lab managers for more information.
Which certifications does BioDiagnostics have?
BDI is ISO 9001:2000 Certified. SCST/ISST has certified our team of registered genetic technologists and registered seed technologists. BDI is the first USDA Accredited Seed Laboratory for seed germination and physical purity testing.
Which tests would I perform for breeding purposes?
