Trait Testing for Genetically Modified Crops

ELISA Tests for Insect Resistance (Bt) Traits or Herbicide Tolerance Traits

Our ELISA lab can test over 150 90-seedling Bt tests per day.To verify trait purity of genetically modified crops, ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay) technology is used to detect the presence of proteins produced by specific transgenes. This technology allows BioDiagnostics to perform:

  • Qualitative tests for the presence or absence of protein
  • Quantitative tests to determine the level of protein expression
  • Quantitative tests to determine the level of contamination in conventional grain

BioDiagnostics has automated critical steps in ELISA-based protocols to minimize cross-contamination and maximize the reliability and accuracy of test results. When speed, cost and tight control are critical, our automated systems deliver:

  • Precision analysis
  • Rapid turnaround time
  • Ability to test seed, seedling, or early leaf tissue
  • Large sample testing capability
  • Alternate testing technology for herbicide tolerance
  • Proprietary protocols are validated by trait providers
  • Discount pricing packages
